This MOOC engages with two speculative climate novels from the Global South to show how they resist against Europe’s lethal migration policies. Both Amitav Ghosh’s Gun Island (2019) and Mohsin Hamid’s Exit West (2017) challenge conventional notions of migration. These novels, in different ways, allow us to reflect upon the ties between the current climate emergency, transnational migration, and the histories and ongoing legacies of colonialisms that shape them.
