Royal Circumcisions were massive scale festivities in the Ottoman Court during the Early Modern period. In this video, we will understand why the study of such celebrations is important to understand broader issues such as power dynamics, the construction and projection of Imperial imaginary, how social hierarchies were displayed, and how the patronage networks were created and functioned within the Ottoman Court.
