ICT user interfaces (Human-computer interaction: design for all and assistive products)

MOOC Massive Open Online Course

A simplified ICT user interface model is proposed and applied to different human-computer interaction cases. Through a brief history of user interface accessibility, a reflection on innovation, technology, and accessibility is suggested.

OVERVIEW
This introductory course provides an understanding and application of the principles of Design for All and Assistive Products in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), based on the fundamentals of Human-Computer Interaction.
The contents of this course have been awarded by several organizations: the Social Council of UNED, the ACE Course Awards, and the Universia Foundation – Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.

OBJECTIVES
Acquisition of competences and skills to ensure that the principles of Universal Accessibility and Assistive Products are taken into account in daily professional practice.

Raise awareness about the discrimination suffered by part of the population regarding real access to the Information Society.

Understand what a user interface is, its relationship with the concepts of ICT accessibility and usability, and the challenge posed by constant technological innovation.

Learn the fundamental strategies to guarantee sustainable ICT accessibility and usability, including business, legislative, and regulatory perspectives.

Learn about and apply the needs arising from disability and functional diversity from the perspective of Design for All in ICT.

Learn about and apply the main characteristics of Assistive Products applied to ICT.
